SteREO Discovery.V20 - Stereomicroscopes
A new performance class
Parfocalized for pin-sharp images throughout the magnification range from 0.75x to15x: the new zoom body of the SteREO Discovery.V20

Optics : See Distinctly More!
With up to 20% more resolution, higher total magnifications without visible loss of contrast, and an enhanced perception of depth in the microscopical image, SteREO Discovery.V20 outperforms any competing products.

Here you have a stereomicroscope in which the classical principles and techniques reach their very limits. Moreover, you profit from an entirely new zoom drive system - designed and matured into a serial product jointly with the Carl Zeiss Innovation Center.

The zoom system of the SteREO Discovery.V20 at a glance:
Zoom body with plane-apochromatically corrected optics and motorized zooming
Range of zoom magnifications: 0.75 to 15x
Zoom factor: 20
Numerical aperture of the front lens: 0.144
Double iris diaphragm
Seamless integration into the SteREO modular system

To suit your application and/or budget,
three different series of objectives are available for the SteREO Discovery.V20:
Achromat S: high-contrast images with pronounced impression of space
Plan S: flat, distortion-free object fields
PlanApo S: true-to-detail resolution without color fringes

Mechanisms: Stable, Precise, Ample Working Space

Motorized Focusing
As the optical performance of modern stereomicroscopes increases, so do the technical and application requirements demanded of the stands. SteREO Discovery.V20 offers stability and ample working area in the object space. And you can rely on smooth, precise focusing up to the highest magnifications.

Control - Innovative and Informative
SyCoP - The System Control Panel
The SyCoP System Control Panel is at the core of the new control philosophy. It has been specially designed for stereomicroscopes.

SyCoP combines joystick, pushbuttons and touchscreen with the convenient design of a computer mouse. Its operation is child’s play.
SyCoP facilitates the reproduction of increasingly complex operating procedures. Its display informs you of the current optical settings of the microscope at a glance.

The System - Versatile, Flexible and Efficient

Stereomicroscopes of the common-main-objective (CMO) type are of modular design. The versatility and flexibility of the modules and components permit the microscope to be adapted very efficiently to many and varied applications and user requirements.

Here’s another advantage of the modular design: You can set up and fit out your SteREO Discovery as required – quickly and efficiently.

The SteREO Discovery modular system is composed of:

Microscope bodies
Viewing and intermediate tubes
Interchangeable optics
Carriers and stands
Stages
Illuminating and contrasting modules
Documentation and image processing modules

Documentation

Keeping valuable information
Requirements for the fast and reliable documentation of microscope images are increasingly demanding, as the scope of tasks to be solved by labs and research institutions is expanding. With the Carl Zeiss series of AxioCam digital microscope cameras, these tasks can be solved reliably and efficiently.

AxioVision: the program
AxioCam cameras come with the AxioVision software, which ensures smooth and professional image documentation and analysis processes in biology, industry and materials sciences.

Technology
A new principle for better viewing
The desire for greater zoom factors and higher total magnifications in stereomicroscopy can no longer be satisfied with classical technologies, which would have required mechanical and optical components of excessively high accuracy and prohibitive cost.
Jointly with the Carl Zeiss Innovation Center, we conceived, developed and engineered a completely new drive system for the zoom optics of the SteREO Discovery.V20.
Instead of a mechanical part affected by manufacturing tolerances, processor-controlled stepper motors provide for the exact positioning of the lens components during zooming, thus ensuring:
